African Leadership Academy
The African Leadership Academy (ALA) is a pan-African academy offering a two-year residential program for high school students, designed to develop the next generation of entrepreneurial and ethical leaders for Africa, empowering each student with the skills and mindsets required for transformative leadership to navigate and excel in an increasingly complex world.

Elimisha Kakuma
Elimisha Kakuma
Elimisha Kakuma (EK) provides access to higher education opportunities for high school graduates living in the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya. Students receive intensive academic instruction, exam preparation, mentorship with current college students, and guidance through the college application process. As more refugees gain access to higher education, their long-term life outcomes will be improved, and their communities will be strengthened.

Center for Refugee, Migrant, and Displacement Studies
Center for Refugee, Migrant, and Displacement Studies
The Center for Refugee, Migrant, and Displacement Studies (CRMDS) at Virginia Tech focuses on sustainable and equitable solutions to forced relocation and large-scale population movement, working to understand displacement on a global and local scale. The center provides experiential learning opportunities for faculty and students to collaborate regarding displacement. CRMDS is affiliated with and provides support for the Elimisha Kakuma nonprofit operating in the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya.

Steger Center for International Scholarship

The Steger Center at Virginia Tech is home to several study abroad programs for undergraduate and graduate students, and offers opportunities for faculty and staff members to develop semester-long and short-term programs. It serves as the European base for the Center for European Union, Transatlantic, and Trans-European Space Studies, a Jean Monnet Center for Excellence, and support its research and pedagogical aims. The Steger Center also hosts international conferences on behalf of Virginia Tech and interested faculty members.

CFNRV matches donors’ unique interests, ideas, and passions with charitable organizations making a positive impact in the NRV region every day.

The Lyric Theatre
The Lyric Theatre
The Lyric Theatre is a nonprofit organization overseen by The Lyric Council Board of Directors, the governing body of The Lyric. The mission of The Lyric is to enhance community participation in the arts and culture by maintaining and preserving the historic Lyric Theatre building while sustaining state-of-the-art technology and infrastructure; providing a diversity of arts programming to the community; establishing and promoting The Lyric Theatre as a regional arts destination; and partnering with community organizations.

Buzz4Good is an inspiring television show that highlights and helps nonprofits by giving them more “buzz!” Airing on public television stations across Virginia, Alabama, and increasingly the US – and on YouTube – Buzz4Good features the great work that nonprofits do in our communities and provides them with pro bono marketing services to attract more donors, volunteers, and clients to their cause.
